Michelgroup has provided Planning and Architecture for the Re-Development of the former Kraus department store building. With extensively planned renovations and the expansion towards the backend of the building, an additional anchor point has been created in a central location on the market square.

The repositioning of the building has opened up a generous and inviting access to the city center and representative access to the Retail. The upper floors have been repurposed as apartments and an interior roof garden. The entrance to the market square features a two-story restaurant, offering the residents of Emmendingen another appealing opportunity to linger directly on the market square. This repurposing-revitalization has generated a positive “buzz” day-and-night in the city center.
