Sustainability Strategy in collaboration with Transsolar Energietechnik GmbH

Michelgroup developed the re-development strategy, architecture and sustainability concept in collaboration with Transsolar for the repositioning of a property from the 1960s in the Greater Zurich Area. This is a building consisting of a podium structure with a multi-story underground car park on which a tower-like structure is placed and a total area of ​​approx. 30,000 square meters (including underground car park: approx. 45,000 square meters).

The planning for the repositioning is based on a layout that allows daylight to flood into the existing podium structure, thus opening up the possibility of diverse and flexible uses. The replacement building for the tower in wood-hybrid construction creates space for new types of uses such as research facilities and laboratories. The green of the surroundings continues inside and becomes a bridge between the outside and the inside. The publicly accessible green space on the roof of the podium building is a place of peace and relaxation. This place opens up a new quality of stay, also through its visual connections and gastronomic offerings. This development will make the property an address that will attract attention far beyond the tenants and a valuable urban building block in the district.

This transformation process illustrates how generational behavior and uses develop and how this is reflected in our built environment.

The basis of the planning is a building that is CO2 neutral in construction and operation and is part of the circular economy.
